Special Project

Mission Central Special Projects

For many years we have had a tradition of giving conference attendees an opportunity to participate in a “hands on” project at the Missions Fest conference—now called Mission Central SERVE. These projects involve collecting items in kits to meet needs in various groups of people.

This year Mission Central is partnering with WINGS (Women In Need Gaining Strength) for the 2023 Special Project. You can visit them at booth L10 in the Exhibit Hall.

Welcome kits needed for children entering transition houses

WINGS operates 2 first-stage transition houses and 3 second-stage transition houses in New Westminster and Delta that provide immediate accommodations for women and children fleeing domestic violence. In addition to providing accommodations, WINGS also provides programs and resources to assist women in finding their way to building a successful life.

When leaving domestic violence situations, children often leave behind their belongings. These welcome kits provide needed supplies as well as giving the child something of their own.

Welcome Kit Details

All kits must be labeled by one of the three age categories (below) and packed in a small reusable bag (backpack, drawstring bag or other).

Please bring the kits to the SERVE Conference on January 27–29, 2023, and drop them off in the designated bins in the lobby.
